Fisher Series 80 Tube Tuner Preamp Clean Wood CASE Picture and Description:
Up for bids is a clean working vintage Fisher Series 80 Tube Tuner/Preamp. This model is the 80T. The tuner/preamp is offered in its hard-to-find wood case. The case and chassis are quite clean. The case has a few scratches. There is a mark on the top from handwriting, but it is not too severe. The cabinet is solid and has no loose parts or lifted veneer. The front and sides look good. The top has light wear. The chassis is very clean. All the tubes test good. There is no rust or chassis pitting. The tube shields are all clean and in place. The jacks on the back panel as well as the lettering and factory stamped data are also clean and in good condition. The chassis front faceplate is very clean. There are a few blemishes, but none is severe and they are hard to see. The dial and its lettering are all clear and in good condition. The knobs are clean originals. Each is in good condition. The dial functions properly and both dial lamps light up nicely. The radio works fine. Both tuning meters deflect. The tuner/preamp has standard inputs for a phonograph and two auxiliary inputs. The preamp has its own inputs for tape player and magnetic phonograph cartrige. There are also main and preamp outputs, making the 80 series preamps suitable for a wide range of installation schemes. This model also has an output level adjustment control on the back. There are two auxiliary AC sockets, rated for 265 watts total. The channel selector has settings for AM Broad, AM Sharp, FM, Phono, Aux 1 and Aux 2. The tuner/preamp has a Phono and Tape Equalization control, separate bass and treble controls, a loudess balance switch, volume control and the station tuner selector. The line cord is the original and it too is in good condition. The photos show the radio antenna wires, two red for AM and two green for FM antenna hookup. When I received the unit, these wires were sheared off at both 4-pin plugs. The wiring arrangements are shown on the chassis. I simply replaced the wires with short leads of about 8 inches for the winning bidder to easily arrange his or her own antenna system. The Fisher 80T preamp works. I tested it out with a power amp for a brief time and it works OK. The tuner preamp is very clean and nice examples like this one do not come up for bidding too often. Bid on the classic Fisher for your own vintage Hi Fi collection. Bid on it "as is" due to age. NO RESERVE!! E-Mail any questions and please view my other listings. Thanks for looking.
