Fisher 660-A stereo 7591 tube amplifier chassis amp Picture and Description:
Fisher 660-A stereo amplifier Up for auction is a Fisher model 660-A amplifier chassis. Made in the USA and of vintage production. Stereo push-pull amplifier, using four 7591's and two 12AX7's; tubes are not included. Output impedances are- 4, 8, 16 ohms. As can be seen, it is in good cosmetic shape. The chassis and transformers are quite clean. No drilled holes or any mechanical modification. It appears the amplifier stock and was stored in a cool, dry environment. Serial # 20597B. This amplifier has been modified to operate on it's own. These amplifiers NEED to be modified to run independently. I installed a 390 ohm 25W resistor to ensure a cooler, longer life for the 7591's. It is the large, light blue resistor shown in the underside pic. These amplifiers were originally part of a console. The original bias was derived by using the series resistance of (4) 12AX7 tubes in the preamp chassis. Each 12AX7 is ~ 85 ohms, totaling ~340 ohms. I also bypassed the remote power switch so the amplifier comes directly on when plugged in. It does appear to operate. I powered it up slowly on a metered Variac. I ran it for appx. 5 minutes at 110VAC; it pulled 1 amp. It played music and sounded good. As with ANY old tube amp with aged vintage parts, this will need to be serviced. I will guarantee the transformers to be operational. But do not expect to plug this in without first repairing off-spec/old parts and having it checked over. This is an old amplifier. Apart from the transformers to be OK upon arrival, this amplifier is sold AS-IS. So, with a little bit of work, this will be a good sounding, attractive amplifier. Extra pictures upon request. Shipping weight- 30 lbs. UPS for domestic; USPS Express for international. All will be packed very well, please check out my feedback. Terms & Conditions: Preferred payment by cashiers' cheque or postal order, I will reduce shipping fees if you pay by these methods. Buyer pays for all shipping costs plus insurance. Payment must be received within 10 days of the auction's ending date. Items are described to the best of my ability. The amplifier is guaranteed to have good transformer windings, arrive safely and test as represented upon arrival. I do my best to make customers happy with their purchase. Amplifier sold AS-IS.
